January 1 is the priority consideration date for the fall semester applications. October 1 is the priority consideration date for the spring semester applications.
International applications for the fall semester that arrive at the University after April 1 will be asked to delay their admission until the spring semester.
Applications for the spring semester that arrive at the university after October 1 will be asked to delay their admission until the next fall semester.

A graduate applicant preferably should have a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry.
Applicants must have a class rank placing them in the upper 50% in their undergraduate class.
Applicants with records or scores that meet or exceed these guidelines are not guaranteed admission. Admission of qualified students also depends on a match between the student's area of interest and the research specialties of the faculty and the availability of professors.
Financial aid is usually considered only after an applicant is admitted to Iowa State University.
Iowa State University can not process an application until it is complete, so please make sure the university has received all the materials for your application.
