Clapp joins CBE Faculty

Prof. James C. Hill, University Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Aaron Clapp to the faculty of the department.  Aaron’s appointment began on August 1, 2006.  Information about him follows:

Academic Background
B.S., Chemical Engineering, University of Minnesota (1996)
M.S., Biomedical Engineering, University of Florida (2000)
Ph.D., Chemical Engineering, University of Florida (2001)
National Research Council (NRC) Postdoctoral Fellow, Naval Research Laboratory, (2002-2006)

Research Interests
• Optical microscopy techniques (optical trapping, fluorescence, multi-photon, etc.)
• Colloidal behavior and interfacial phenomena
• Measurement of forces and interactions in biological systems
• Nanocrystal synthesis and applications
• Optical spectroscopy
• Energy transfer in molecular systems
• Biosensor development
